Hourly Rate: £8.94 per hour

A part-time Research Assistant is required to carryout field and laboratory work to support a field trial at Coventry University's Centre for Agroecology, Water and Resilience, based at Ryton Organic Gardens (CV8 3LG).

The trial will explore whether the application of foliar feeds increases flowering and nectar and pollen provision, and whether this results in an increase in bee foraging.

You will join the team delivering the Blooms for Bees citizen science project, funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund, Coventry University and Hozelock.

Duties and responsibilities
*Assist with horticultural tasks such as caring for the trial plants.
*Assist with assessments of plant health in the field.
*Assist with recording bee activity in the field.
*Take responsibility for collecting and quantifying nectar samples in the field.
*Take responsibility for collecting pollen samples and counting pollen grains in the laboratory.
*Input data using Excel.
*Write short blog posts about the field and lab work.

Requirements
Ideally you will hold, or be studying for, a degree in a relevant subject such as natural sciences or geography
Ideally you will have experience of field or lab work.
Ideally you will have your own transport to commute to Ryton
