Coventry University's versatile events venue Square One are recruiting experienced Venue Technicians to join their team on an as & when temporary basis.
You will provide technical support for events, including the operation of professional lighting, sound systems and cinema. You will also provide troubleshooting and rectification of identified problems where possible.
Working closely with the University team and external clients you will provide efficient reporting when faults or service problems are reported by clients including an initial diagnosis where possible and appropriate escalation. You will also support regular equipment checks and service reviews.
This role may require working unsociable hours in the evening and at weekends to support events.
As Venue Technician you will:
*Provide technical support for internal and external users for events and academic activities;
*Carry out routine maintenance tasks and checks on equipment provided within the Venue and supported areas in order to identify, and where able, assess and document any faults or servicing requirements sufficiently so that work may begin on restoring that facility;
*Deliver a solution, where possible, to any identified fault in line with instructions received, in order that any detrimental effects of the fault are overcome and service is restored within the appropriate service level;
*Respond to requests for support, help or advice relating to the services used by customers, by either providing the requested /help/advice, or by escalating to an appropriate member of Local Delivery;
*Ensure that a high level of customer care is exhibited at all times when dealing and communicating with customers in order that IT Services 'customer care' standards can be met and that the customer is kept fully informed about their problem or request;
*Distribute and replace standard computing and or audio-visual equipment or software in order to ensure the delivery of advertised services and service levels;
*Monitor and maintain adequate supplies and consumables in the Venue area, in order to ensure continuity of service;
*Advise customers and students of the university rules of etiquette in service facilities and record any observed problems with, or misuse of, these facilities
*To provide 'face to face' support/advice on facilities and also to contribute to the provision of documented help/advice for the purposes of keeping customers properly informed.
*Working flexibly, including unsocial hours and extended hours by agreement or on appointment
AND such other duties as are within the scope of the spirit of the job purpose.
*You will have experience working in a similar role providing excellent technical support within a large venue ensuring all clients and customers receive first class customer service
*A Multi Media or IT qualification would be advantageous
*Experience of a fault logging/tracking system.
*Knowledge of professional AV equipment
*Experience in the use of a variety of computerised systems.
*Understanding of support and operation of professional lighting and live sound equipment
*Aptitude for practical work
*Must be able to pay attention to detail and observe procedures.
*Must be well organised and able to work flexibly to meet deadlines.
*Able to work constructively within a team
*Understanding of relevant health and safety issues.
*Must be able to work flexibly in order to meet service needs, including unsocial hours at evenings and weekends.
*Manual handling/moving of equipment
*Must have an ability to grasp technical matters quickly with minimal instruction
*Must be an effective communicator, both orally and in writing, and have the ability to listen and be willing to help management, staff, students & visitors in a courteous & professional manner.
*Ability to work unsupervised under own initiative and as part of a team.
*Ability to work under pressure.
