2.JOB DESCRIPTION
Purpose
To undertake a range of duties in support of the day to day administration of payroll and pension functions within the Group. Provide a customer focussed service by prioritising workload to achieve all deadlines (legal and organisation imposed) ensuring those duties and functions are accurate and timely in order to achieve pre-determined deadlines

3.MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1.To undertake the operation of a computerised payroll/personnel system, including data input and maintenance of personal and bank details.
2.To undertake the checking and processing of claims for payment.
3.To assist with the checking of payroll input and to undertake amendments as required.
4.To undertake the collation and recording of absence data and the calculation and payment of occupational and statutory sick pay in accordance with appropriate legislation and University policies/procedures.
5.To undertake the payroll administration aspects of induction for all new employees. Ensuring all relevant information is correctly captured, especially surrounding information required for RTI.
6.To process hourly paid lecturer notifications, checking payment figures and maintaining payroll internal files.
7.To deal with telephone enquiries, correspondence and personal callers in relation to the processing of payroll for clients or groups.
8.To process and maintain records for Attachment of Earnings Orders, Student Loan repayments and Court Orders, as required.
9.To assist with the administration of the occupational pension schemes by undertaking the completion of standard forms and returns and providing information to staff as required including Auto enrolment
10.To assist Schools and Departments with budgetary control by providing regular Payroll Costing reports, assisting in resolving queries and amending cost codes as required.
11.To deal with telephone enquiries and correspondence from external agencies, eg. Inland Revenue, Benefits Agency, mortgage/ employee reference requests.
12.To undertake manual payroll calculations as required.
13.To assist in dealing with duties relating to other client groups in the absence of other Payroll Assistants.
14.To undertake word processing duties, filing and photocopying as required and assist in the development and maintenance of the Departmental filing system.
15.To assist with the production of statistical information as and when required.
16.Ensure all work carried out is compliance with legislation; HR/Payroll/Pensions best practice; Group policies.

Essential

Previous experience of working in a payroll enironment, Good Excel, highly computer literate.
