An exciting opportunity for an experienced Media and Communications Officer to join Coventry University's Faculty Marketing team on a 3 month temporary contract.

Working closely with and aligned to the Group Marketing and External Affairs team, you will be responsible for the production and dissemination of high quality marketing collateral to support student recruitment, reputation and brand building of the Faculty. In addition, this role will be working across the faculty and faculty research centres to generate content for use across a variety of internal and external communication channels, including news stories for the media.

A key activity is the ability to contribute and work effectively across a number of teams to contribute and enhance the development of the media and communications plan for the Faculty.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

As Media and Communications officer you will support the development and lead the implementation of the Faculty Media and Communications Plan in line with the Faculty Marketing Strategy, working with the Faculty Associate Dean, Marketing and Recruitment and central Marketing and External Affairs.
You will also:

*Identify, organise and deliver marketing collateral and communications, and ensure that it is approved and scheduled into the central design team to allow for accurate and timely delivery.
*Maintain data within relevant stakeholder databases including sector-specific databases for direct mailing activities, advising on client data capture and management within the Faculties/Schools and departments.
*Provide accurate and engaging copy of a standard that will ensure the effective production of a variety of marketing communications, undertaking all aspects of Publicity Production:
*Content generation and liaison with staff teams
*Planning, proofing and production.
*Delivery and dissemination
*Follow up activity with recruitment pipelines
*Database Management
*Work within the University design, approval and print process to ensure that standards of quality and efficiency's are maintained.
*Continually review and audit media collateral to ensure it is relevant, accessible and representative of all key audiences, providing translated versions where appropriate.
*Work across the Faculty including the Faculty Research Centres to proactively source media stories for the external press, liaising closely with the Group media relations team to develop and disseminate.
*Work with the Group Alumni Relations team to gather news stories, testimonials and updates to provide content for the web, social media and marketing materials.
*Collate key stories from the Faculty and Faculty Research Centres, to support the community engagement activity of the University and provide news and information for internal communications, newsletters and corporate material such as; Evolve, Innovate and the Annual Review.
*Participate with central Marketing and External Affairs activities such as good practice workshops, planning and strategy meetings.
*Provide advice and guidance and ensure process and planning documentation is available and accessible (via the staff portal) to support media and communications management across the Faculty.
*Regularly evaluate and monitor approved budget spend and activity against agreed objectives delivering monthly reports to the budget holder and Faculty Accountant.
*Promote commercial and other opportunities to Faculty and University staff.
*Support the Faculty during key events including (but not limited to) clearing, alumni and recruitment.
*Support the Faculty with key (incoming and outgoing) outreach programmes as needed.
*AND such other duties as are within the scope and spirit of the job purpose, the title of the post and its grading.

Person Specification

*Degree in a relevant discipline or degree with substantial experience or degree with professional marketing qualification. Relevant CIM or equivalent professional qualification would be advantageous.
*Experience of generating stories for and working with the media.
*Demonstrable experience of integrated communication campaigns.
*Experience of influencing senior key stakeholders and relationship management.
*Evidence of CRM/engagement activity using traditional and digital media.
*Ability to analyse return on investment of planned campaigns and budget management
*Experience marketing in the context of Higher Education
*Experience of working at an international level.
*Ability to develop and implement innovative solutions to complex problems evidencing cultural sensitivity.
*Well-developed skills in relationship management, negotiation and persuasion.
*Excellent communication and organisation skills with the ability to work under pressure prioritising work to meet deadlines
*Ability to work independently (within guidance), be proactive and to take initiative whilst contributing as a member of a team
*You will evidence a passion for ensuring that our marketing and publicity and the communications around them are delivering maximum impact.
*An appreciation of other cultures; the global reach of the University and its international agenda.
*Able to deliver results with minimum supervision
*Keen to enhance own skill set and develop within the Faculty.
