Coventry University
6 Month Contract
£8.26 an hour
Working hours: 07.00 to 15.00 Monday to Friday

As Facilities Assistant, you will work within a dedicated Facilities team to ensure the quality of both the teaching and working environments for students, staff and visitors exceed expectations across several buildings.

Your Main Duties and Responsibilities will include:

Ensuring that routine tasks are undertaken systematically and promptly, for example:
"Programming electronic door locks.
"Stocking photocopiers/drink machines and rotation of consumables
"Distributing postal deliveries and parcels within dedicated buildings
"Collecting photocopier meter readings
"Removing fly posting and expired notices
"Room preparation
"Replacing door/clock batteries
"Updating door timetables on a weekly basis
"Maintaining agreed standards of housekeeping within the managed buildings.

*Conduct regular inspections of the buildings, identifying and reporting maintenance issues.
*Respond to enquiries from staff, students, suppliers, visitors and members of the public.
*Provide advice to staff and/or students on internal (and, where applicable, external) procedures, as appropriate
*Work with a wide variety of contacts including, staff, students, visitors and suppliers.
* To undertake general driving duties in small transit van across campus. Moving furniture and resources between all buildings.
*To undertake the moving of staff, including the setting up of IT equipment. Sets out furniture for classes/meetings. Assists with the loading and unloading of equipment, furniture and stock.
*Assist with the organisation of public events such as enrolment, open days and induction. As well as ad hoc facilities projects and audits
*Assist with facilities projects and audits
*To work on own initiative and problem solve.
*AND such other duties as are within the scope and spirit of the job purpose, the title of the post and it's grading.

Experience required:

*Recent experience in a similar Facilities Assistant role
*Full UK Driving Licence
*GCSE or Equivalent passes in English and Maths
*Knowledge of undertaking day to day risk assessments.
*Aptitude for practical work including assembling and dismantling equipment
*Awareness of safety hazards and Health and Safety Regulations
*Able to follow instruction without supervision
*Able to lift and carry loads.
*Experience in the use of Microsoft office ICT packages.
*Excellent organisational Skills.
*Attention to detail
*Good communication skills with a wide variety of people including limited English speaking staff and customers in a courteous and professional manner.
*Good Customer service skills.
*Must be flexible over working times with a willingness to work early or late as required
