Employability Advisor

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Recruitment Consultant to join Coventry University's Employability team to work closely with their final year students pro-actively supporting, advising and developing their job searching techniques.
You will have recent experience in the industry, ideally recruiting directly for Graduate roles and/ or working with Graduates as candidates within the general business sector and have a real passion for helping candidates secure their dream job.

As an Employability Advisor, you will meet and engage with both final year Students & recent Graduates. In addition to developing their job search techniques you will communicate relevant opportunities and support with applications. Guiding students through opportunities typically associated with their subject discipline you will support them in seeking and successfully applying for these opportunities.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
*Providing tailored employment advice and guidance that is aligned to the Faculty employment strategy.
*To proactively scan job sites, local press and use social media to identify employment opportunities that may be of relevance, and communicate those opportunities to students using a variety of different methods.
*To maintain and develop expertise and knowledge in under-graduate and post-graduate level occupations, industry sectors and career paths, supported by employment research in order to enable students to make effective transitions to the careers based on accurate understanding of the labor market.
*Work in collaboration with Employability and Placements Advisors, school management, course directors and module leaders to inform the design and delivery of the placement employability agenda.
*To develop, maintain and enhance links with graduate employers and alumni. Source and sign-post graduate level job opportunities and work experience. Proactively develop activities and events utilizing these links that enhance student's understanding of potential graduate career options.
*To monitor and record the progress of final year under-graduate and post-graduate students in securing a positive destination.

Experience and Education:
*Experience of recruitment gained as either a Recruitment Consultant or Recruiter.
*Proven experience of working within a commercial organisation.
*Substantial knowledge of national graduate recruitment markets.
*Significant experience of reviewing CVs/application forms as part of the recruitment process.
*Experience of coaching or mentoring others.
*Experience of training workshops/skills training.
*Experience of recruiting or developing graduates within an organisation is advantageous but not essential.

The Candidate:
*Strong verbal communication skills and strong presentation skills.
*Ability to network and build relationships with others inside and outside of the university.
*Self-starter and able to work independently without constant supervision.
*Excellent organisational and planning skills.
*Excellent customer service and ability to relate to students of diverse background, ages and experience.
