One year contract

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Clerical Assistant to join one of Coventry University's key departments on a one year contract. The role will provide administration support to the team and be the first point of contact for students, University staff and visitors to the department.

Working closely with the main administration team your main duties and responsibilities will include:

*Covering the main reception desk, dealing with enquiries from staff, students and prospective students, visitors, and the general public, face to face and by telephone and email ensuring that a high level of customer

*Support the recruitment and deployment of Student Ambassadors for the department.

*Contribute to the development and delivery of on campus events by regular monitoring and evaluation of online systems and visitor feedback, providing on-going recommendations to Officers and assisting with the event set up.

*Support the department's admissions function using the online paperless processing system as well as providing clerical support to the department.

* Maintain the overall general presentation of the office, ensuring that the reception area for visitors is fully stocked with up to date resources providing a clean and welcoming venue for visitors

*Actively ensure that all mailing allocated is completed accurately and to deadline within the department's mailing calendar and responsible for all mail leaving the department to be collected by the internal post room service on a daily basis.

*Provide cover for routine duties in the absence of the Senior Clerical Assistant

*Implement a range of good office practice procedures in support of the work of the Office, making full use of computer packages and systems.

*AND such other duties as are within the scope and spirit of the job purpose, the title of the post and its grading.


Experience required:

You will have experience working within a customer focused office environment with proven IT skills including maintaining data electronically and manually, word processing, databases, spreadsheets and email.

Excellent written and oral communication skills and telephone manner are essential for this role along with strong organisational skills.
Working closely with key staff members you will have the ability to work to guidelines to achieve objectives within agreed deadlines both as a team and on your own initiative.

This role will act as a key support for the office so the ability to work in a flexible manner to meet the needs of the office will be required along with a high degree of discretion and confidentiality.

As this role will support key events and open days for the University the ability and wiliness to work outside normal office hours including Saturday's will be required.
