Assistant Category Manager
To support the Category Managers achieve the complete 'buy-to-sell offer with relevant K business units.
To support the Category Managers to achieve profitable sales and margin growth across the category, delivered through negotiating industry leading supplier deals.
To assist and support in managing the supplier interface with high level of communication and understanding of operational business units.
Qualifications required
"The ability to demonstrate commercial successes
"Full driving licence
"IT Literate
(A working knowledge of Excel, power point and word processing, data bases and Outlook
(Or similar systems)
"Graduate calibre (business orientated degree would be an advantage but not essential)
Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required
"Some experience in a buying or category function within a commercial function.
"Have some influencing skills with kudos to interact within our teams in Operations, Supply Chain, Category and the Senior Management Team to achieve the desired results
"Have the ability to assimilate, analyse and derive insight from data from a variety of sources and make recommendations
"Have the skills to prioritise and manage your work load
"Negotiating ability
"Have the ability to understand the 'bigger picture' and internal and external factors that impact on sales and profit.
"Must have excellent communication and presentation skills at all levels, with the ability to influence and build strong relationships, with both internal and key supplier stakeholders
"Must have a strong team work ethic
"Will be results driven and focused on delivering on timescales
"Will be flexible regarding working hours and travel, as travel across the UK is a necessity

Ensure that you build effective relationships with your fellow Category Managers
Ensure that you build and develop an effective and diverse category range
Ensure that you understand and deliver performance of your individual category(s)
In terms of Sales Values, Sales Volumes, Margin %, Margin £, ASP's (Average Selling Price)
And measure against the Market.
It is your responsibility to ensure that you plan ahead and anticipate changes within the market and put in place the appropriate interventions were necessary to with stand the potential changes and the implications of them on your Category
Effectively land price increases and take action with suppliers to ensure that increases meet the company requirements. Management of List Prices
The proposal, development, coordination and management of new product development

Commercial
Assist and support the Category Managers to:
Work with Ops and Sales to maximise Sales Volumes and Screen and Through Margin to break point
Liaise with the Marketing department regarding the Marketing plans and strategy for the Category
Conduct Health and Safety SMATS
Procurement
Assist and support the Category Managers to:
Manage the Supplier Segmentation portfolio
In conjunction with the Finance Department support the collection of unpaid rebates
Interact with all company brands when and where appropriate to build effective and meaningful
Business brand working relationships which facilitate and deliver the category plans and strategy.
Prepare and deliver when required briefing papers for Senior Managers.
